Calming down methods ARE NOT enough!
If you want to deal with fear, anxiety, and worry both on the level of the MIND and BODY, you would need to use methods beyond yoga, meditation, or walks in nature.
Instead of calming yourself down forcefully, you can learn to stay with tiny bits of discomfort to change your nervous system response.
You need to add an EXTRA STEP between anxiety and relaxation: the tension release.
This will allow you to wind down naturally rather than store unprocessed emotions in the body, that ticking time bomb.
It will also affect your conscious brain by reducing your worrying thought pattern and will bring back full cognitive power (aka ‘cool head’).
Most methods
focus on the internal states and leave you detached from reality, immersed in your anxiety OR
forcefully calm you down, suppressing the natural stage of discharge of the emotions from your body OR
rely just only on your ‘conscious’ mind to reason yourself out of fear

Perhaps you have tried to combat your fear hundreds of times.
You worked on your beliefs, meditated, and did guided relaxations.
But panic always reared its ugly head exactly when you wanted to look confident or think straight.
Maybe this blown-out-of-proportions anxiety, getting triggered by one critical word, makes you feel something is wrong with you.
I get where you’re coming from. I used to wonder why I wasn’t as calm as a buddha. Scientific papers claim that meditation is PROVEN to decrease stress. How come it didn’t work for me?
REALITY CHECK:
Fear and stress are natural and necessary responses from your nervous system. The point is not to make unpleasant emotions disappear forever.
If you feel no fear at all, chances are you have suppressed it and cut yourself off from your body.
You must allow yourself to feel all emotions (including fear, frustration, and anger). Otherwise, the unprocessed emotional tension will be stored in your body, leading to tension, pain, and even disease further down the lane.
But you don’t need to be the prisoner of your emotions!
You don’t need to look on helplessly as the body brings you pain.
You are not destined to stay chronically anxious and ill.
The more you work on the nervous system regulation when you’re feeling safe, the easier it will be for you to access the calm state, even before an important financial decision or after a big argument. Or when you are in pain.

Painkillers ARE NOT enough
Medication and surgery often do not resolve chronic pain! Just as an example: spine surgeries have just 50-80% success rate in terms of pain eradication. And that is because chronic pain is a glitch in the processing of information in your nervous system not a direct result of tissue damage.
If your nervous system is constantly in a state of fight or flight, you will have a lower tolerance for pain. You can't heal when stuck in the survival mode – your organism is too busy surviving!
Increased levels of stress and anxiety are enough to interfere with the healing process. And who doesn't feel anxious and worried if the pain doesn't go away?
Furthermore, medical professionals often use language that creates in you the fear of movement, the belief you’re somehow fragile and broken beyond repair. It’s almost impossible to get better if this narrative is constantly in your head.
If you want to deal with chronic pain and any auto-immune conditions or simply with chronic tension, you have to begin with nervous system regulation.
Most methods
have a one-size-fits-all set of practices and guidelines to deal with pain affecting particular body part
ignore the importance of nervous system regulation in pain management
focus solely on the ‘‘problematic’’ body part on the ‘‘pathology’’

to use neuroplasticity to re-write your holding patterns and perception of pain
to give you the agency: allow you to test in your own body what works for your unique physical and psychological make-up
to pay attention to the language you use and the story you have created about your body as it has a huge effect on how you feel
to focus on feeling whole and finding joy, pleasure, and ease in movement,
to cultivate acceptance and self-kindness as gateways to healing
Maybe you think that healing is extremely complex and painful process.
You just remember those physiotherapy- torture sessions, or the iron discipline of daily yoga.
You have tried almost everything: physiotherapy, osteopathy, pilates, yoga, meditation, reiki - you name it . With very limited results.

My story of healing
As a teenager, I lived in a state of permanent anxiety. Even a bus ride to an unknown neighbourhood would set my heart racing. I craved peace and I thought I found it in Yoga.
In 2006, I became a yoga teacher and a... yoga fanatic. I followed the rules of Sivananda Yoga religiously. But every time I stepped on the mat, I ignored what my body told me, following the instructions of someone who had no idea how I felt in my skin.
Pushing and abusing my body finally caught up with me in my early 30s. I developed chronic pain in the butt. I was SCARED that this pain will stay with me forever. The more worried I was about my pain, the more regularly it would come back.
Disillusioned, I tried other methods, including meditation and traditional CBT therapy. It was quite a few years of hit-and-miss - a painful process I would not wish anyone. Gradually, I understood that the attitude to practice matters far more than the method itself.
Finally, I discovered the somatic and neurosensory practices - a missing link between holistic practices and science. I understood how much my past and emotions affected how I felt in my body. And I could finally see a clear path of undoing all that.
I can't say my life is once and for all free from fear or pain. Nobody's is, and nobody can be. But I have learned how to bring my nervous system back to the calm zone quickly and efficiently. I don't get stuck in a state of terror or hopelessness. The tension is an alarm. As soon as it sounds, I take care of my body so that I don’t spin into the tension-pain-perpetual pain cycle.

Breathwork comes AFTER the stage of emotional release and can help move swiftly and for longer into rest-and-restore nervous system mode.

Spontaneous movements which help you to switch with ease from fight-and-flight to rest-and-restore mode and release tension from the body.

Simple, gentle self-touch techniques that send the message of safety to your body to soothe your nervous system and let go of physical tension.

Somatic techniques that allow you to release unprocessed emotions (especially fear and anger) through movement and voice.
My students often report that knowing WHY they're doing particular practices makes it much easier to integrate them into their lives.
Most health professionals won't bother explaining WHY something happens to you and WHY a particular practice can be helpful.
But when you understand why you experience stress in the form of pain or anxiety, you can let go of the feeling that you're abnormal and the belief you're doomed to live like this forever.

Even before we begin the sessions, we will have a chat to discuss what exactly is your biggest challenge and how can you deal with it.

What might happen if you decide to leave things as they are?
